Ground floor, sliding glass door. Iron bar gates are crazy expensive to buy. Cornershop style vertical rolling crosshatch gate not an option according to board. Any other options that would also allow entrance with a key via the sliding glass door facing outside?

A simple piece of closet rod, 1" dowel cut to fit in the bottom track will prevent it from being opened. Any crook worth his salt will still find a way in.
Best advice, move or at least have good insurence.
If they want to come in there going to find a way.

There are shatter resistant plastic films that can be applied (both pro and DIY) to make it almost impossible to break through the glass. Lots of articles by Googling preventing glass door break ins.

A piece of wood laid in the track as Joe suggested is both the cheapest and most effective way to secure a sliding glass door, many just use an old broom handle. It doesn't allow access from the outside but I'm not sure that you can have both unless you went with the options you've already ruled out.
