The house I recent bought does not have a sliding door to the backyard. All it has is a big window on one side and an entry door on the other side. I am thinking of installing a sliding glass door to the side where the entry door is. Could you give me an estimate of how much it would cost including labor. Thanks much.

Assuming that the "big window" is 5' wide or more, it would be less expensive to install the slider in place of the big window and replace the door with a smaller window. Sliders come in standard widths of 5', 6', and 8'. The expense will be in framing in for the slider. If one will fit where this 'big window' is, that will eliminate a lot of the expense, since the framing is already in place for it.
