What would you do with this storm door?

Would you...
A. Epoxy a sheet metal patch over it and paint to match.
B. Put a coating over it and sand/paint to match (pls specify coating).
C. Just buy a new door.
D. Other (pls specify).

the metal has deteriorated and the brown color is the insulation inside the frame... measures abt 2 1/2" x 10"

Using Bondo will be an adequate patch. How much work do you want to go through? Is the rest of the door in good shape to avoid buying a new one? Replacing a storm door is not very hard. It pretty much just pops in to where old one was. What I question is why just that one spot and the rest of the surfaces look OK?

Bondo or most any wood filler should do ok. You want to make sure all the failing paint/material is removed first. Once the repair is finished use an oil base primer to seal the repair. Most any exterior house paint should be fine for the top coat. If money isn't a concern - replace the door.

for some reason, our cat (RIP) years ago dug at the door and made a small hole, so I put a stainless patch over it. I don't know if something else is digging at the door now, but the deterioration is worse now.
