Door Handle for Front Screen Door

Hey everyone,

I just bought a house where the previous owners removed the handle to the front screen door. I am having a tough time figuring out what to buy to replace this, due to the dimensions. I have uploaded a picture with approx. dimensions for clarification. I am hoping someone can find a door handle for this screen door via a link online? Thank you for your help!Name: 10429503_10153154662221533_7909803930615357824_n.jpg

Looks like someone has change that that latch before, that's why there's so many holes.
There's two different screw spacings avalible.
Should only need to know the top and bottom center to center measurements to get a new one.
Your also missing the latch catch.

Hi, I think the top hole is for a screen dead bolt and the bottom is for a screen door latch. two Separate units.

It is probably this type of door handle. The problem is finding the match to your pre-drilled holes. Storm Door Mortise Full Locksets and Trimsets - All About Doors and Windows, Parts and Hardware

And please give an overall measurement for center of top hole to center of bottom hole so that we are sure you measured correctly. That's a critical measurement.

Two things.

1) Was the door latch and handle removed when you first saw the house? Was it there during inspection? (You did have an inspection, right?) If it was there then that was removed unlawfully and you can sue to get it fixed at their (sellers) expense.

2) With that many holes and the trouble you're having, it best just to buy a new door.

For those who havent installed a storm door lately, all those holes are drilled exactly where they should be, based on the template from the mortise lock set.

If its a Larsen, which I assume it is, this is probably the right mortise lock. Dont see the handle right off, but I would suggest you look on the hinge for a model number or sticker and contact the door mfg directly for parts.

You could try one like this, but whats disturbing is the fact that they don't give you the specifications and measurements.

Xsleeper, we sell Larson Doors at our store. Truth be told I could not or would not assume this is a Larson. But you may very well be correct.

Yes, I know... could very well be a Pella door, Emco or any other number of mfg's... which is why I suggested he look for the mfg's sticker and contact them directly.

One company, I think it's Pella, supplies a 15mm spade bit to drill the holes and the double hole seems odd, but that's to make room for the key tumbler, which is round on top but has a rectangular edge underneath which makes it oblong... thus the 2 holes right next to each other.

Just for your information. Larson is licensed to make the Pella doors. We sell them side by side. Apparently, according to the rep, Pella thinks Larson is so good that they allowed them to manufacture their doors. But only their doors. As far as I know Pella only uses their own factory to make windows.

This has been bugging me. I believe it is an Emco "Contemporary Series", dual vent, tilting sash storm door. Color, forest green. See their literature on page 6.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...42YL5oQCittnrg

Emco used to be their own company, but is now owned by Andersen... acquired in 2001.

Hopefully if you can verify that, you can track down the right handle and mortise lock.

Sounds good. I've put a few storm doors on in my career. Every one is different it seems. Hope you get it done before the snow flies. Err, before *more* snow flies.

Probably hard to open too. Lol... hope that's the handle AND mortise lock/key strike plate and everything you need.
