I replaced my basement windows that sit in a aluminum frame. The new windows seem to be working fine, but I am having a problem with the aluminum frames they sit in frosting up. I believe what is happening is the aluminum frames are conducting the cold from the outside to the inside where it hits warm air and causing condensation. I have tried a few things to try and remedy this:
1) Put foam tape on the frame in the outside (exterior)
2) Wrap the frame with terry cloth towels in the inside (helped some)
What I may try:
1) Foam tape on the interior frame
2) Dehumidify my basement
I wondering if anyone else had this issue and perhaps have any insight to what could help.
I live in an old tudor. To install the storm windows there are these clips on the window frames that adjust and slide into holes in the wood around the window to secure the storm window in place. I've attached photos of these clips. Has anyone seen these type of clips? What exactly are they called? Thanks
