I have new extension done recently. On windy day there is high pitch whistling sound comes from sky light roof window. Some times is very loud it comes when wind blows in certain direction. There are three roof window fitted , so one of the window is making noise. Roof is slanted. Need suggestion to fix.

Do these skylights open? Can you identify which one is making the noise? Something is loose causing the whistle.

Yes, they are roof light window. It can open as well. I think one of them is making sound. They are key light Windows. I don't know how to fix ?? I have checked it closes tightly.

You either need to use a ladder to reach the windows to listen or do what I did. Take a long pole and a piece of small diameter hose. Tape the hose to the pole so that you can put the end of the hose at the window opening. Have someone walk around with the pole and a second person can hold the pipe NEAR their ear..... not in it. Makes it easy to find the source of the noise.

The repair will be more difficult. A whistle is caused by an opening that should be sealed and the wind is blowing directly across it. I'd imagine the problem would be a piece of the trim that is missing some sealant.
