Question Keep or remove window under deck? Opinions needed

I'd like some opinions on if I should keep this window or remove it and make that wall all built-ins. The window is under my deck so the window does not provide much of a view. The area is going to be in a kitchen so built-ins would come in handy.

Windows going to be useless there.
No way would I build recessed storage there, it's an outside wall that needs to be studded in and insulation added.
In your area there should be R 19 in the walls so even what you have now may not be enough and the studs should be added onto.

Hi, Joe, I'm not sure if I was clear. My idea was to stud out the window, insulate and build a wall on top of the foundation in front of the insulated outside wall with framed cutouts that I can slide pre-made niches into.

Assuming you will be keeping the door, building out past the stub wall would be a good storage area above it. Do insulate the existing wall well and start your framing for the built ins in front of the insulation. Keep the framing and finished wall as far from the door frame as possible so as not to impede the door's movement as close to 90 degrees as possible.

Thanks Chandler. Looks like everyone agrees the window should go. That saves me $130 on a new window too seeing I am replacing the other basement windows. The door is staying, good point about door clearance
