Removing/repairing broken window?

Our house is around 8 years old and I have never removed/repaired a window (until now). So this one simple single window just slides up to open and down to close has a metal slide thing fall out the side. I have tried to remove the window to get a better look to see what happened, but it will not come out. I have attached pictures of the metal piece that fell off the side of the window. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove this window and/or reattached this metal bar?

Thank-you for any input....

Push the window all the way closed. You will see a take out clip on the left and right sides above the sash. (They usually look like a shiny stainless steel rectangle about 1/4" wide, 1 1/4" long.) Pull the bottom of the takeout clip with your fingernail until it pops open.... it should hinge on top, only the bottom end opens. Open both takeout clips, left and right. Then raise the window about halfway, grasp the middle of the window with your left hand on top of the sash and right hand on the bottom of the sash. Push the sash left until the right side clears the frame, then pivot the right side of the sash toward you until it clears the frame and pull the sash out of the frame.

It doesn't appear that your block and tackle balance is damaged, so compare the left and right sides of the sash to look for broken parts. If nothing is broken, you can hook the balance back up, and tuck it back under the right side take out clip. (be careful, those things are like sling shot rockets if they get away from you.)

If you have more questions, post more pics.

Installation is the same as above, in reverse order.
