Water seepage via sliding window channel
Hello,
We have a 3-track slider window, and during heavy wind with ran, the water seeps in through the tracks from under the window itself. There are weep holes on all the tracks but those aren't helping. It seems like the water flows IN from the outer tracks instead of the other way round..
I've attached some photos, I would appreciate any advice about whether this can be fixed?

First and foremost, be sure the tracks are clean. Second, you can widen the hole slightly. Water drains better through an oval hole. So if you have a 1/4" drill bit, wiggle it from side to side in the hole to make it more oblong. And finally, do what you can to reduce water running down onto the window from above. If you don't have gutters, that's not helping. If the gutters are plugged and overflow, that doesn't help either.
Other than that, not much you can do other than make sure they are shut. Aluminum windows are at the bottom of the rung as far as quality, wind and water resistance go. By design, they usually let water into the interior tracks... it's just not supposed to go any farther than that... it can't usually overflow into the house.

You mentioned that Aluminum windows are at the bottom of the stack when it comes to these problems.
Which materials are better in that case?
There's a company that makes windows which have the tracks angled at 5-degrees to make the water flow out, but I'm not sure that will be effective. Unfortunately, I've seen that the wind blows so hard that I can see water ripples on the inside-side of the water tracks! and the water is basically coming from below the window through the channel.
The only explanation I could think of is that the middle channel and the outermost channel accumulate water, then that water seeps inward through the weep hole and below the innermost window thus making its way in.
I'm also debating the switch from a 3-track to a 2-track system so that there's less chances for the water to gather, not sure if that will help.
