converting patio door (the cheap way)

I am redoing family room- it has a big ol 6 foot patio door that is useless (Leads to side yard where there is nothing)
I cannot afford right now to remove it and frame in a new window (plus winter is coming). I wanted to try and make it "look" like a big window. Any creative ideas for me to "build" a small wall inside frame of door (like 18" high)- and make it appear like a big window? (or I thought building a bench seat type thing)- I just need it to look nice for the holidays and I will deal with it later when I have more $$$. I thought maybe 2x3 inside the frame and just use trim and curtains to make it look like a window- thoughts?

I don't see any sense in building a temporary wall to hide part of the door. IMO it would make more sense to just hang a big drape and open it when you need/want sunlight.

Whatever you do will look odd, I don't see any reason to spend money and time trying to disguise something that will eventually be replaced anyway.

Check Craigs List, lots of one off windows people are selling for great price, wont take long to frame it in or wait till spring.
