I doubt it's repairable. Is the screen loose - can it be restretched?

If the screen wire is already taut you can't stretch it without damaging it but if it's loose, restretching it might hide the deteriorating portion under the spline.

No! It can't be repaired. Most likely it's old and worn via the sun and weather. It must be replaced. A simple and quick repair. Take it to a Mom and Pop type hardware store (ACE, True Value, etc...) and they will replace the screen and spline. I suggest using fiberglass instead of wire cloth.

Screen is so inexpensive I rarely bother trying to re-use old. It's much easier to work with new material.

Replacing a screen is a quick and easy DIY project. All you need is an inexpensive spline tool and a razor blade for trimming. Big box stores sell screen kits.

If you have grandkids you get lots of practice replacing screens in doors.
