I have auto window tint on the windows of the game room. I have a lightly tinted type that doesn't darken the room much but it blocks the UV so things don't fade.

For the south side of my house the windows are covered with perforated vinyl film on the outside. In July and August the sun reflected off these windows and was cooking the lawn. The vinyl has about 60% open area and is easy to see out of but also does a good of stopping reflections on the outside of the glass where the vinyl is applied. This film can be ordered online or purchased from most sign printing shops as it's used for wrapping buses and taxis with advertising while still allowing passengers to see outside.
