Exterior door finish

I am looking for an easy-to-apply, but very durable stain and finish coat for a new mahogany wood door. As the surface area is relatively small, cost of materials is not so important. The door will be subject to rain, snow & sunlight.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might have more luck posting this in the Painting Forum. If there is some way that you can reduce the door's exposure to the elements, the finish will last longer. Maybe an extended overhang or something of that nature?
