creativity needed for replacing sliding door
We are rehabbing a home and it has this weird sliding door out to deck area with a step. We want to replace door.
The height of the deck floor is above door threshold height so it make a weird setup. We cannot raise the door as there is no room to do that.
I thin the step has to stay for when people exit the door.
Any ideas on how to make this work?
maybe an exterior pocket door so part of that section can be re-sided?
maybe a narrow sliding glass door and extend the step to the width of new door?
thanks

I would do whatever it takes to install the door at your interior floor level. If that means tearing a section of the deck off and rebuilding it lower so that your deck is also at or below the finished floor, so be it. Any step(s) up should be outside on the deck at least 3 feet beyond the door so that you have a minimum 3 ft landing outside the door.
