Broken Casement lock, window locked shut

The locking mechanism on a brand new PGT casement window snapped when locking the window. Thus could not crank out the glass to replace the locking handle. Read a previous thread, using a straight edge, insert between the glass and frame and tap down with hammer.

A wood ruler is pretty thick.
I would try a putty knife.

keep trying! Maybe with something thinner like a thin putty knife or dinner knife... and I think your ruler might be a little high. Open another window and look where you should be inserting it.
