Hello,
Something weird happened today. We are
in a house built about 2 yrs ago. When trying
to get in to my house using my key, the key would
not fit it in the hole! It always fit in well.
This time I had shove it in real hard.
Then we lubed the door hole with WD-40 and
alas the keys go in as before.

I am just wondering....Why would a door key hole
need to be lubed all of a sudden?
Could this be a symptom of someone forcing entry
into the door or something?

Let me know...
Thanks

I suppose it could be that somebody tried forcing something into the lockset, but more than likely it is just dirty and corrosion that caused the first pin in the lockset to stick. WD-40 wasn't the best thing to use. Being an oil, it will casue dirt to collect inside the lockset. Get a spray can of silicon lubricant and use that instead.
