Door rough opening question

If I remove one of the jack studs on each side, I'll gain 3" and can use the prehung doors. There would still be a 2x4 jack stud on each side. Is this safe? The wall runs perpendicular Kodi nox to the rafters in the attic so I assume it is load-bearing.

amelbeabk,

I moved your question to its own thread. In the future, please use the "new post" button to start your own thread. Adding an unrelated comment onto someone else's thread is called "hijacking".

In answer to your question, typically you cannot just remove jacks from under a header to gain space. They are there to provide support for the header. Without seeing your framing, we cannot say that what you propose is safe. The safe answer is, no you cannot.
