Need some advice for this door
Need some Advice For this door we have in the basement.
Details
Walkout Basement, a sunroom was installed by previous owner. The door between the main basement and the sunroom has been a problem and I would like to replace it with a nicer door.
The door also has a storm door/screen door which is a real hassle opening both doors to get to the sun room and i would like to eliminate the screen door altogether. THis is the original exterior door and screen door they left in when they added the sun room. So there is an exterior screen door inside the sunroom, if that makes sense.
Problems with door: It opens into the basement and hits a bulkhead wall so the door doesnt open all the way. Also catches on the molding and makes a terrible loud noise everytime you open it. I have grown to despise this door lol . The paneling around the door looks bad and am trying to figure out how to put trim around it and clean it up somewhat
Possible solutions/ ideas needed and advice as to what to do or not to do:
I am no expert at door framing but have basic carpentry skills. I am considering removing both doors and Putting a new door where the screen door is now, i would remove old screen door frame and replace with new door frame BUT I am unsure if I can do this because the concrete at the bottom slants down and not sure if it will seal properly. (it gets cold here in PA and would like to be able to use this basement in winter)

screen door inside sunroom

standing in the sunroom looking into the basement

inside the main basement this is as far as the door opens,

inside basement bottome of door

inside basement looking at door

other angle

bottom of concrete slopes toward the sunroom on the screendoor side

molding problems plan is to put casing on

inside frame

How wide is the door currently? Measure either the door or storm door. And what is the distance between the brick on the outside?

So you have two independent projects.
Removing the screen door is simple, take it off, remove the frame, then see what clean up has to be done bring exterior back, removing caulk, filling holes etc.
Interior door, that threshold is different, most doors sit on something wider and flatter. Have you thought about just replacing the door?
Inside issue/door opening, looks like something would have to be removed!

Your best bet will be to completely rip everything out. As noted, your sloped sill will need to get filled in so that it's flat... The top edge of that flat subsill would ideally need to be about 3/8" below your finished floor.
To get it away from the hinge side, the only thing you can do is get a narrower door. So you would need to find a store or lumber yard that can make you a 30" prehung exterior door that is made for a wall thickness of 9 5/16". Can't tell from your pic what the end of your tape measure is hooked on. Getting the door made for the correct wall thickness will move the door to the interior side of the wall... And the aluminum sill will be wide enough to span most of your flat subsill.

xsleeper, ok that makes sense, but to get the subsill below 3/8 below the interior floor i would need to rip out the concrete.
any suggestiions on hanging the new door as far as putting it in the same place as the old door or removing the old door and putting new door where the screen door is now? thanks

I guess I didn't realize that was a concrete sill. You would need to take a concrete cup grinder and make a flat spot for the new door to sit on, and you would need some sort of filler under the door as a shim.
I don't know what more of a "suggestion" that I can give you that I haven't already said.

i was wondering if you had any ideas for the screen door. the screen door was originally used because this was the outside door, now that it is an interior door because they built a sunroom i have no use for the screen door
