In the past few days our front door no longer latches/locks into place. On the door where you have the knob, when I use the key to lock and close the door, I can just push the door slightly and it will open even in the locked position.

One thing I noticed is if I lift the door while closing it, then lock it, the latch then works.

So Im guessing the door is like a millimeter out of whack somewhere.

Been looking at youtube videos and don't seem to find a similar problem where I can fix it on my own.

If I have to slightly lift the door to get the latch to lock, where could the problem be? Maybe a hinge screw is loose on the bottom of the door? or top/middle? or could it be something else?

 

I would check all the hinge screws to make sure they are tight. Often it's beneficial to have a few longer screws on the jamb side of the hinge [so it connects into the stud]
