I was planning to install a storm door in front of our front door. However, before purchasing the door I took measurements and am now already feeling a little stuck. When I measure the framing inside the house I get 36 inches dead on. When I go outside and measure outside (where I would obviously be installing the storm door) I get dead on 35 inches. I was looking to install a 36x80 door but now I am thinking that isn't possible. Will I HAVE to go custom? Attached is a picture of our current front door.
No. It's 35 because of the way they wrapped your trim with aluminum. If you want to install a storm door you will need to remove that aluminum cladding. Once you do, it will be 36" between your brickmold.
If you wanted you, you could carefully take a sharp utility knife and score the aluminum (cutting it back 1/2" on each side... And score the jamb so it's 2 1/2"... Assuming 4 9/16" total wall thickness) and maybe save it, but im not sure it's worth the effort to save it. It would be a lot easier to just rip it off and have someone wrap it correctly.
Yeah. Its a real disservice to wrap a door that way. I see it quite often and try to never do it that way myself. People may not have a storm door now, but they might want to later.
The casement windows in my house are nearly 50 years old and one of them has shifted slightly in the frame toward the hinge side so that the snugging hooks don't catch. These windows predate the adjustment nut on the arm mechanism and everything is concealed inside the wood frame. It appears that if the sash could be shifted about 1/8" toward the hooks they would catch. Short of screwing the sash to the frame (which I've done temporarily to seal it better) does anyone have a solution.
I have 6 velux motorized blinds, powered with a wlc100 power supply and controlled with a wli 160 keypad
Everything had stopped working, the keypad lights didnt light up, the power supply had burnt out.
I replaced the power supply with 2 wlc 160 because each one can only power 3 shades. I was able to link them together to be able to use the keypad through both supplies. when I powered it up, 2 shades started to move, but only one went all the way closed, and then all the way open and stopped.
Now nothing is responding and I dont know what to do.
