Hello all - I have an old Weiser deadbolt on my interior basement door (no idea why someone put it there!) that I am trying to replace. I've tried prying the face plate off both sides (no luck) and prying the rivet covers off the one side (again, no luck). There does not seem to be a slot anywhere to insert a flathead to get a good pry point on either side. Anyone have any experience removing one of these? TIA.
Take a drill and an 1/8" drill bit and drill into the center of those 2 caps. Then run a drywall screw or similar into each hole, and I bet those caps will pop off so that you can get to the screws.
I have some interior pre-hung doors where the jambs are 4.5 in wide. To the the walls where I need to hang a door are 2x6 framed so with drywall the jamb needs to be 6.5 in wide. I am wondering what the correct way is to attach the jamb extensions. I can cut the jambs required to size Should the be nailed together, glued and nailed. 3in brads/finish nails enough? Actually my nailer can only handle 2.5in brads. I am guessing they should have a 1/8in reveal?
Any pointers/guidance would be appreciated.

Hi
I want to try making some barn doors for my closets. I’d like to match the 5 panel shaker doors that I put in a few years ago. The barn doors look fairly straight forward to make but I have a couple of questions.
Should I use plywood or mdf? I’ve seen people use both. How thick? I’ve seen 3/4” but am wondering if I could get away with thinner?
If I use plywood how can I get the edges to be nice and smooth? - so it looks like a solid piece of wood. I’ll be painting them white.
Thanks for the help.
