Pella sliding door 250 series doesn’t glide

Hi All:

apologies if this isn’t the correct spot to post. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to find information about my issue without luck.

I recently had a pella slider (250 series) installed and 11 windows. The door is level, plum and square. However, I noticed that the door has a lot of resistance when trying to open and close. At times it also squeaks. In contrast to my old slider, as well as the lower 150 series models sold at Lowe’s, the new door is a heck of a lot harder to open. it needs to be “forced” into the jam to lock properly. When you think it is closed you have to push it a little bit more. Compared to the doors on display these again were more easily closed.

my contractor mentioned it could be due to the door creating a vacuum, but I am not too sure about this. I’ve been to 3 different Lowe’s and a pella showroom to try out doors. None of them seemed to have either of this issue.

With the amount of resistance the door has, At first I thought it might be that the casters were bottomed out, so I raised them a bit. This didn’t solve the issue.

Should the door glide freely on the casters? I took the door off the track and noticed that the casters do not freely spin. They do move, but they do not continue to do so for any period of time after the initial spin. The metal track also looks to have a lot of scrapes.

A Pella rep is coming out because it does appear the integrated foot lock was installed backwards at the factory. I plan to bring these other issues up as well.

Is this something I should push hard about? I am not sure if I am just being overly picky, or if something is actually defective about the door.

also, is it common to have some “goop” sag from inside the IGP? I can take photos, but it looks to be some sort of sealant. It is only in the top right corners. I had windows installed as well and there seems to be inconsistency with how much goop is visible between each window pane. Again while checking out the range of Pella windows at Lowe’s and my local branch, this goop was not visible on any of the windows.
