How to remove glazing compound residue from metal sash

I have removed almost all of the DAP 33 glazing compound from a metal sash.

How do I remove the glazing compound residue from the (rough, irregular surface of the) metal sash so that silicone caulk has a clean surface to adhere to?

Try a brass brush wheel on a drill.

OK, thanks, Norm. I'll have to get a brass brush wheel. Why brass as opposed to steel?

Brass is softer and will ware and not gouge and rip the steel. You will get scratching and brush marks. Don't be too aggressive. I was hoping another member might have a better idea. Wait and see what others have to offer.
