A friend of mine has vinyl, new construction, double hung windows with a built-in J Channel. He now wants to replace them with double hung replacement windows. Any suggestions on how to remove the old windows and install the new? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I need some help identifying replacement parts for our sliding glass door, pictured below. It is a very strange door that was there when we bought the house -- it "pops" inwards and then slides sideways once it has been popped in -- I guess the advantage is that the door is flush when it's closed. The door handle/latch (pictured, wedged back in by me) has broken in hald, and the metal guidewire at the top of the frame for this external door has snapped. Because this is a very strange door, I have no idea where to find a replacement handle or how to fix the broken guide wire. A window retailer suggested (perhaps unsurprisingly) that our only course of action would be to buy an entirely new door and window, but that sounds insane to me given that all that's broken is the handle and a small metal wire. However, a strong wind blew the door open the other day, my wife thought someone had gotten into our house, and... I need a better solution... Your advice much appreciated.
