I have two skylights (Velux VSE), in-addition to opening and closing, when the remote control is changed to 'Mode 2' the glass tints dark (by applying a small electrical charge). However one of units stopped tinting. After not working yesterday, the window did darken today for a few minutes before returning to normal (the expected behavior is to stay dark for ~8 hrs before returning to normal).
I'm pretty sure the problem is the control board is not sending current when activated. The open/close operation works fine and the fact that it did work temporarily today suggests the power supply / transformer is not totally shot (right?).
Also interesting note: on the working unit there is a small light on the 2nd PCB (the one connected to the transformer) that stays on when the window is darkened, but on the broken unit the light only comes on when the control is clicked and turns off with the status LED light after a few seconds.
Anyone know how to troubleshoot / fix the power issue or find a replacement board? I contacted Velux support online yesterday but still waiting to hear back (and wouldn't mind swapping the pieces myself to save the time and money of sending a tech out).
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that it is possible to remove the old ugly plastic grid from your french doors. I did it!
I used a dremel tool to cut each piece off of the frame and also used the dremel to sand each nub down, I painted it and reinstalled it. Looks beautiful.

It was alot of work, but sooooo worth it. You have to take the doors apart, it took about 4 hours per door.
I am at far end of a remodel project and just found that the door is 26 x 78 ... not getting it anywhere
While I can probably order and get it, it will delay my project severely
Did anyone ever try trimming a door by 2" ( 28" wide are available) and then gluing a strip of wood on the hollow side ?
Is that something that can work ?
