Repairing large kitchen window

Hi, I am having trouble finding info on how to repair the framing on the large kitchen window in my home. It is single pane but has framing on the interior and exterior. The framing is damaged on exterior and interior. It's chipped in some areas and the paint is peeling off most of it.

I'm not sure what materials I'm working with or what materials are needed to repair it. On exterior, the chipped areas might be plaster, and the framing itself is wood. On interior the framing looks like it's just wood. I'm a new homeowner and haven't repaired something like this before. Any help/resources you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The interior wood just needs to be scraped or sanded, then primed and painted. The stuff around the exterior side of the glass is called "glazing" (such as Dap 33) and you use a glazing putty knife to smooth it. You can likely find youtube videos on how to glaze a window.

I agree. Your window needs a simple repainting and reglazing. I use a painters tool and wire brush. With the painters tool you can scrape or pick off any loose glazing on the outside of the window. The glazing is sold in caulking tubes and in a tub and I find the tub type easier to work with and do a neat job. Then after the glazing has been repaired you can repaint.

Thank you both so much! Not knowing the materials and correct terms was making it hard to find the right info about repairs. Actually feel like I could tackle this job now (after watching a lot of youtube tutorials). Thank you again!!
