selection of hinges to replace old ones on exterior door
I want to remove the current brass door hinges on my front door, and door going into the garage, and replace them with satin nickel hinges. The current/original hinges are 4 inch hinges with square corners and they have two tabs on the hinge leaf connected to the door. I've looked at some 4" hinges on websites of Lowe's and Home Depot but have not seen ones with tabs like the tabs on my current hinges (see photo). I'm not sure what the purpose of the tabs is; I'm guessing they may make the hinged side of the door a bit more secure. So, I'm wondering whether I should search for new hinges that have the feature.
Those tabs don't serve much of a purpose other than helping to align the depth of the hinge. I think they were probably useful for when doors were mortised by hand. Your mortise is already there.
I have a Stanley Front Door that has a window with two panes. There is a set of blinds between the panes.
The outside pane shattered. It's still contained in the frame, but it sounds like rice crispies crackling.
There are screws on the inside, holding the frame / bezel in place.
I'm pretty sure the door itself is painted steel.
I need to know how to select the correct replacement glass, and what is the best procedure for disassembly and re-assembly.
The numbers on the door sticker are: SwRI I.D. No 98038-05-01 & 28915
Hello, I replaced a damaged interior door. I laid the new door on top of old door and marked hinge locations. Then routed and hung, but I must have made a poor transfer mark on hinge #3 because it was about 1/32 - 1/16 off.
It took a little force but I got the door hung; however, it's sticking out at the top. My reveals look consistent and the door appears straight, so any idea what's causing this?
Thanks
