Pella Casement Window Hinged Panel Help

My wife was attempting to clean the glass inside the hinged panel of one of our Pella Designer series casement windows. Apparently she somehow released the string that prevents the window from opening far enough to come off of whatever holds it in place. Now the bottom of the hinged panel is free to move outward but the top is still attached. How can I put this window back like it should be? Thanks so much for any help.

The hinged panel simply gets opened fully then pushed back into the corner where it hinges, and then you close it while keeping pressure back on the hinged side.

Additional info from Pella:

You can show her the part about not removing the string,

Thanks, XSleeper. Does "opened fully" mean operned 90 degrees from closed or opened even more? Thanks!

It will engage about halfway between 45 (roughly the limit when the string is hooked up) and 90.

So the string needs to be unhooked to clip the hinged panel back in.

I got it to engage and was able to close it latch the hinged panel in place, However, there is still something not correct. the bottom of the hinged panel (at the hinge site) is no longer tight against the seal like the top is. I am attaching a couple of pictures. I appreciate your responses, XSleeper.

Could be bent for all I know but I doubt it. You definitely have the weatherstripping caught in there which should not be in there. (A couple inches is bulging out in the middle of the line on your arrow)

Try opening it back up and work the weatherstripping back tight like the rest of it is above and below. Then try to push the sash back into the hinge and close it.
