Just trying to fix my sliding door, I believe the screw needs to be frightened to raise the wheel the door slides on. Unfortunately i can't do it as the door is broken and the screw doesn't have support to tighten against. Have attached a picture. Anyone got any suggestions? Not the best with handyman stuff haha
If it won't adjust you probably need to get new rollers. The sliding panel comes out and lay it on its side, then take out a roller and post a photo if you can't locate a matching roller.
Oh, if the problem is no backing for the screw, yeah a big fender washer, or get some flat aluminum stock from the hardware store, cut a piece about 3" long, drill 2 holes in it, then back out both screws and put the aluminum on as a patch.
Thanks for the suggestions. And yeah it's because there's no backing I can't tighten it properly. Will try with a washer but will have to make my own as the head of the screw is small and the area it needs to cover is quite a lot.
Hello guys,
We bought a property built in 1950s and it had old aluminum windows. We were looking into replacing them with new vinyl ones but the time estimate I got is 8-12 weeks. For the time being, we would like to use this. The main issue with the windows are - most of them have no locks, or it is broken. I have attached pics (good vs bad). I asked some handymans but they are not sure how to repair. Is there any way I can replace it or repair it? Any help would be appreciated.

I have 2 transom windows that need a replacement IGU. I read somewhere that they have to be removed from the outside. If so then it's a bummer as they are on the second story floor and I'd dead scared of heights!
If they can be removed from the inside what needs to be done? I have attached pictures for reference.
I do not know what the thickness of the IGU is - these are builder grade 1995 vintage!
Would appreciate any instructions please and thanks in advance.
