Clearance for door from wall

I am currently framing the basement at my in-laws new home. I have a question as it relates to distance between the rough door pending and the perpendicular wall. Is leaving the king/jack stud with 3" of clearance enough? I've attached a rough picture. Let's base it off 3.25" casing and a .25" reveal. I will be leaving 2" for the rough in with a prehung door. I could move it off a bit but the inches I gain there are then taken away from the closet and bathroom width if that makes sense. I'd also like to use a 32" door but could go 30".

Yes, you have it correct. 2 studs on the inside corner. The door jamb will need to be shimmed away from those double studs about 1/4" away from the studs within the rough opening, which will help move the casing away from that perpendicular wall so that you don't have to scribe it to the wall. If you want to be SURE the casing does not touch that other wall, use 2 studs and a 1x4 on that inside corner.

Basically, once 1/2" drywall is hung on that perpendicular wall, you want the inside edge of your door jamb to be 3 1/2" from that drywall.... 4" from framing. So at a minimum, the door jamb would need to start @ 3 1/4" from framing.

As always, thanks for your detailed response. I think the two studs and 1x are the way to go. I'll also do the same on the opposite side facing the other way.
