As you can see from my picture, I put window screens on the lower part of this large window, but I would also like to cover the arch. I plan to measure and get them custom fitted, but the problem is, I have no clue how to attach them. It doesn’t have a metal lip like the lower ones, so I am not sure if the metal springs would work. Anyone have any ideas?
You don't put screen on that section. Not to be rude, but it would look odd! And you will cut down on the light. Usually something you don't want to do. Any holes you put in to the top section introduces another possible leak.
Do the windows in the top section open? I've only seen 3-4 windows like that (arched top) , but none of them had the ability to open the arched part.
If so, how- hinged at the bottom? individual arc sectors of glass?, full unit hinged how?? ??
If they don't open, why have the screens there?
Thanks in advance.
Usually the wind and rain comes from the SW but today there was a rain storm with winds coming out of the E or NE. On the east side of the house rain came through the bottom of the window frame, running down the door from there to the floor. After the rain I inspected and it appears the sealant or adhesive they used is getting brittle. There are some places where I can fit my fingernail between the glass frame and the door. So, my question is, would a bead of Silicone around the outside of the frame be sufficient or do I need to take it apart and do more?
I thought replacing missing screen door would be a simple thing. It turns out the screen won’t clear the framing around the screen door track. The track isn’t deep enough to allow me to insert the door at the top to clear the bottom and vice versa. The size of the screen door is correct for the track as it measures correctly I just can’t get it past the frame. See photo below:

Patio door size is a standard 72x80 according to the sticker on the door. If that framing wasn’t there the screen door would go in just fine. Anyone else run into this problem? Screen size purchased is 35.5 x 77.875 which I thought would be more than enough to fit.
