heard a pop and felt some resistance when opening or closing the window. this piece is now hanging down and keeps the window from moving up. If I push up on the bottom of it while opening the window the window will open and stay in place. How would I repair this. I do see these very tiny little clips w/ a thin cord in the channels on both sides. other than that nothing. No obvious way to take the window out. Windows were installed in late 90's.
That channel balance is probably catching on the takeout clip. Shut the window and look for a clip on the side jamb above that sash. Be sure it is pushed in all the way, because otherwise the channel balance catches on it as you raise the window. Look at the opposite sides or at other windows for how it is supposed to look.
If you need to, close the window and take a picture, and post it.
Dear Internet:
My washer and dryer are in my main bathroom, tucked behind two bi-fold doors.
Well, they were.
When the dryer flaked out, my landlord replaced both with new, cool, state-of-the-art appliances.
That are two inches deeper than the closet.
So what was a nice(ish) bathroom just off my living room now looks like a utility closet.
I'm trying to get him to do something to make it nice again, but the best suggestion he's had is "shower curtain rod". Which, um, I don't dig.
The opening to the "closet" has 18-24" of drywall on either side (i.e., the closet is the width of the room, but the opening is not).
I have a few ideas about alternatives in mind, but don't really know how to articulate them, but I'd also be game for any professional suggestions / recommendations on how to do this. (One option, of course, is to demand appliances that fit!).
Thanks in advance.
I have a sliding window where the glass isn't snugly attached in the frame. The window slides left, and when I pull on the frame about half way up the frame like normal, the frame pulls away from the glass. I can push the glass back in no problem. If I pull on the bottom of the frame to slide the window there is not problem. I want to glue the the glass to the frame but I don't know what kind of adhesive to use. The glass is double-pane and is in good shape.
Suggestions? What adhesive would I use for this?
