2 Top Windows On Storm Window Slid Down - How Do I Repair
Hi Everyone!
The two top windows of a storm window have slid down a bit, and so now the screen window doesn't fit. Plus, it doesn't look right. How do I fix this? This window is on my second floor and I don't think I want to get on a ladder outside to repair it.
For more details, here goes...it appears that the two windows on the top half of the storm window are inserted as one 'unit'. At the very bottom of these 2 windows, there is some sort of 'spacer' between the windows right at the bottom edge (not underneath). There are spacers on all 4 sides. The spacers are held in place with some sort of adhesive. So, in my case, this 2-window 'unit' has fallen an inch or two. Furthermore, the outer window has slid down a bit more than the inner window. I've tried pushing this 'unit' up, to no avail. I've tried pushing the outside window up, without any luck. I can only push so hard because I don't want to break either window. I even put a thin piece of wood on the far left side of the windows (precisely where the left side of the screen window would go) in the hope that over a time, it will sort of force the two-window unit up a tiny bit. It seems like it didn't work. I only did this on one side- I probably need to do this on both sides as perhaps a piece of wood on both sides would slowly force the unit up. Then, I can remove these pieces of wood and add longer pieces on each side (I can always just add a popsicle stick under the two original pieces of wood)...and continue this process until the unit it all the way at the top where it needs to be. Any suggestions on how to fix this are welcome! Thanks in advance!
It sounds like your storm windows need some work. There are usually latches to hold each sash in position but storms don't get much love and tend to show wear more than the primary windows. You may need to have your storms "tuned". Re-attach where needed, bend the frames back into position, repair broken latches.
PD, here's a picture. I is for the inner window. S is for the spacer between the windows. O is for the outer window. My finger tip is on the spacer between the 2 windows. Notice the spacer has broken free from the inner window. Also notice the outer window has fallen lower than the inner window. This picture is taken from outside. Does this help?
When attempting to close the door to the bathroom the top part closes before the bottom half, requiring the bottom to be pushed in in order to be closed properly. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Hello, I have several windows where the thermal glass is no longer well insulated and over the winters condensation collecting at the bottom has affected the rubber on the trim seal (see photo). Does anyone know how I can clean this? Possibly molding?
