Hello, I have several windows where the thermal glass is no longer well insulated and over the winters condensation collecting at the bottom has affected the rubber on the trim seal (see photo). Does anyone know how I can clean this? Possibly molding?
Soap, water and a scrub brush. If the water stains left minerals behind, use a little Limeaway and a clean sharp razor scraper. But wipe the razor blade often on a rag to keep it clean and never scrape it on the glass without the glass being wet with glass cleaner and /or soap / cleaning agent.
Hi Everyone!
The two top windows of a storm window have slid down a bit, and so now the screen window doesn't fit. Plus, it doesn't look right. How do I fix this? This window is on my second floor and I don't think I want to get on a ladder outside to repair it.
For more details, here goes...it appears that the two windows on the top half of the storm window are inserted as one 'unit'. At the very bottom of these 2 windows, there is some sort of 'spacer' between the windows right at the bottom edge (not underneath). There are spacers on all 4 sides. The spacers are held in place with some sort of adhesive. So, in my case, this 2-window 'unit' has fallen an inch or two. Furthermore, the outer window has slid down a bit more than the inner window. I've tried pushing this 'unit' up, to no avail. I've tried pushing the outside window up, without any luck. I can only push so hard because I don't want to break either window. I even put a thin piece of wood on the far left side of the windows (precisely where the left side of the screen window would go) in the hope that over a time, it will sort of force the two-window unit up a tiny bit. It seems like it didn't work. I only did this on one side- I probably need to do this on both sides as perhaps a piece of wood on both sides would slowly force the unit up. Then, I can remove these pieces of wood and add longer pieces on each side (I can always just add a popsicle stick under the two original pieces of wood)...and continue this process until the unit it all the way at the top where it needs to be. Any suggestions on how to fix this are welcome! Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,

Have single door in FR Wall. Want to replace with double-hung french doors. Wall is not load bearing. Widening the opening will not be a problem, I have plenty of room that allows me to create the proper jam on the right side. It's my hope that the exist left jamb, used to support the current single door will work.
My question is, do I need replace the entire header making it one continuous piece, or can I simply frame in and extend it to accommodate the new double doors? Will any additional support on the top be required?Read More
