Question

We are building a house. There are several windows openings that are above where the kitchen counter will be.

Does anyone know the height of a standard kitchen counter? Or put another way, at what height off the floor should a window opening above a kitchen counter start?

Hope this is clear enough??? Thanks, Tree

Start with the countertops. Standard height is 36". What are you going to use for the tops? If you want a backsplash below the windows (tile or to run a pre-formed countertop under the window), allow 4" to 6" for that. Do you want a little wall between the splash and the window sill? Allow 3" to 6" for that. There are no "hard, fast rules". Just decide what you want between the top and the window sill and go from there.
