storm door gap
#1
Hello,
The aluminum storm door on the front of my house has a gap where it closes INTO the weatherstrip/door frame. The gap occurs on the side opposite the hinges. The gap begins at door handle height and ends up being as wide as 1/4 inch down at the bottom of the door . So, the storm door does not close all the way inward against the weatherstrip and door frame. The hinge system is such, that it just about runs the entire length of the door. Its a nice, heavy door and I dont want to damage it by experimenting on it. How can I adjust the door and remedy this problem?
Thanks,
Ken S.

Remove all of the screws holding the storm door to the house on the hinge side, fill the existing screw holes with broken off wooden kitchen matches (wood end), push or shim behind the storm door frame to plumb up the opposite gap, and install the screws again to hold it in place (next to the old holes).
I recently had to do the same thing on my front double storm doors. Worked like a charm.
Good Luck!
