Question Trim for interior doors won't fit.

I am updating the trim on my interior doors. One problem I see as I am starting, is that the new trim (2 1/2") won't fit around all sides of some of the doors. Is there a standard way to trim with this issue? Do I just cut the trim and leave it a little narrower on the one side?

thanks in advance,
John

I don't completely understand what the issue is.....however you can either finish the part of the wall that still shows or use a 3 1/2" molding........

Sorry I wasn't clear. My old door trims were 1.5", and in some cases, that is at the edge of the wall and there is no way a 2.5" trim will fit. should I trim the 2.5" trim down to 1.5" on those couple of instances where the trim absolutely won't fit?

I have already been using the same 2.5" for window and other doors, so changing back to 1.5" won't work!

Thanks
John

Hello, Sure cut the trim to fit to the wall. Cut the thick side of the casing. You will also have to trim the top piece on your 45 degree cut. Good Luck Woodbutcher
