Prehung Doors

I purchased a prehung door from a warehouse store. Cause I am going to be needing a door in the future. Problem is I haven't the first clue about it in. The door way is framed but I cannot get the door in straight. Should I put the hinge side up first, or the side with the knob. I just don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE HELP FIANCEE IS Getting frustrated with me and the door

A pre-hung door is installed as a unit. DO NOT take it apart. Explain what you mean by you "cannot get the door in straight." It should slide right into the rough opening. If it doesn't, then either the opening was built too small or the door you got is for a wider opening than what you have.

Is this a door with "split" jamb ? in other words, the frame with the trim moulding comes apart in the center and you have a U shaped section with trim and another similar to it with the door/hinges mounted to it ?
