Basic Door Framing

After you frame an opening for a door - Do you cover the inside studs(That surface abutting the door) with anything or can you simply paint the surface? Obviously the outer surfaces of the studs get covered usually with wallboard but I'm not sure about the inner surface.

Cool

A pre-hung door frame and trim will cover the framing.

I'd like to hand a bifold door which has no prehung frame. What do you do in this case?

Depends on how fancy you want to get. Yo can put up a wooden frame to go around the bifolds, or you can just wrap everything with drywall. The important thing to remmeber is that the opening should be the finished size. For example, if the bifold says that it is for a 30 x 80 inch door, than that should be the finished opening size. The dorr itself has been adjusted in size to fit, unlike a regular door.

Thanks

What you said about it being full sized is true - I called the manufacturer to ask & they said what you said -ie. make a 36" opening to fit a 36" door, unlike a prehung door where you make the opening bigger then the actual door size.
