new windows

i'm remodeling my bedroom and installed new and larger windows. i have them in place, but am not sure what i need to do to the exterior of the house (i unfortunately have aluminum siding) to weatherproof them. do i simply install the j-channel pieces on the outside and brick-molding on the inside of that? do i need to seal them together with caulk? do i need a different type of piece for the top of the window? any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you said will work....attaching the J channel is a little hard without removing some siding. Most people cover the brickmould with trim coil to make the outside maintenance free...if you do that, you can just use a cheaper 2x2 or something like that since it is going to be covered anyway.

On the top, use a pc of trim coil bent in the shape of a Z sorta to act as a water flashing back up under the siding and out over the brickmould if you window tops are exposed to the weather on top ( not protected by a soffit overhang )

Do caulk the brickmould to J channel point all round the window.
