Window well repair
I am looking for help in repairing window wells in my basement. The previous owners have put mulch right against the house and the window wells to the basement may be damaged. Is there a simple way to seal the windows off from the out side. Any ideas ??? thank you indian angel

Window well drainage problems
You need to dig out the window well and put drains in the wells.
When soil won't drain or the groundwater level is so high that there is no place for water to flow, water will tend to enter the basement. Successful window wells have a drainage ditch underneath the window well and drainpipes that are sloped to carry the water away from the house. Clean out the well at least 6 inches below the window level. Fill with at least 3" of gravel but no higher than within 3 inches of the window ledge. Caulk any cracks or openings around the window. Make sure gutters and downspouts are clear and carry water several feet away from the house. Soil should be below the edge of the window well and sloped away from the window well and the foundation.
