long curtains

Ok i have vaulted ceilings in my great room which is connected to my eat in kitchen, but in my kitchen there are no vaulted ceilings. I want to make my ceiling look taller in the kitchen buy haniging long curtains from floor to ceiling, but what do i do in the great room hang those curtains even higher or do i just hang them normally as i would

It would help to see pics in order to give a better opinion.
If the windows are on the same wall or/and visible together, it usually looks best to mount them at the same place. If the rooms are somewhat separated, you could do either. If there's a lot of wall space above the window in the great room, I wouldn't go up too high. I personally don't like too much wall space showing.
