Zoning Warm Air

hello. we are installing a new heating system for the house (split) due to an addition. installing a boiler with a air handler with the heating coil to warm the 1st floor (1400 sqft). we also will have ac (trane xl14 with trane air handler). i would like to have zoning (kinda makes sense to me) - our hvac contractor is recommending arzel zoning (hydraulics i believe).

i was looking for opinions feedback (shortfalls/positives) of using this type of system. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

I dont like zone controls in a home they just dont work to well. You will have two duct set ups for the dampers. So why not just get another blower unit and AC for the other one. Also think ,that you wont have a big AC running when only one zone calls for cool. We find that two small units work a lot better than just one large unit. Also cost less to run.

ED My .02 cents
