Bryant furnace filter
Hello:
I desperately need to buy a new/different filter for our furnace. We installed Bryant 395BAW0 Furnace back in 1986. The filter located at the place where the return comes into the furnace has always looked flimsy, was always hard to wash and replace and frankly I don't think it cleaned much of the air.
There is an opening there of about 17 3/4" X 14" the flexible, washable blue original filter is held on to place at this opening by two wires at the top and bottom of the opening. I want to replace this filter. I cannot find one to fit the place exactly, and even if i buy one and cut it how do I hold it in place?
Many thanks in advance.

Not sure what all you have there. Could you put a filter in the cold air duct there by the furnace. What kind of returns do you have can you put filter grills in up stairs where the returns are? If you have AC you should look at the A coil there if you have had that washable filter in there from 1986.

I need to replace this filter. Problem is its location and the way it is held in place. It is not standard size and is only held in place by two wires. The work area for this filter is like two inches wide so it is very hard to get in there and custom fit a store purchased filter.....I thought that if other people had the same difficulty with these filters, Bryant may have made an easier to use and more effiencent filter by now.
Thanks.
