whole house fan motor is not working- need to replace it

I have a direct driven motor (with a pull swith on/off) and it is not working. I took the motor off and contacted the maker AO Smith and they were no help b/c this motor is probably 25 years old.

I need a new motor and was thinking of getting one that I would be able to turn the fan on/off like a light switch. There is an outlet for a light right next to it so I'm guessing I can use that one but should a motor for a 1000sqft house be on it's own circuit?

Also, arent there motors with thermostats now?

You can do all of those things you are pondering, however, unless your house wiring is in metalic flex or conduit, you may have to break some walls.
Your fan is probably more than sufficient for your home, is knowing how to use it that the key to ballanced air changing.

Here is a link where you can find the motor and any switching and timers;
