backflow thru return air ducts

when the furnace fan is not running, I get a cold air draft back thru
my return air ducts. Is there a baffle or something to stop this, or what
could be causing this problem. thanks

it is a 2 story house, but this is a separate unit for the downstairs, all
the ductwork is under the floor

Wink

Hard to say when you dont see the duct lay out. Is this like a cold air drop for a 2 story home from a cold up to a cold air down? Cold air will fall . Sometimes you can feel it on a stairs.

i would inspect and seal the ductwork, sounds like you have leaks

I've the same exact problem in my apartment...Cold air comes through the return vent when the heat is not running...have yet to figure out the cause of it...trying to find out if I can put some kind of a return vent cover with a damper or something on it...lol if I figure it out ill let you know since it sounds we both have the same problem
