Tapping Noise From Ducts

I have air ducts above my bedroom on the top floor of my house. There is a consistent tapping noise coming from them when the furnace turns off and on. Could it be the change of the temperature causing the ducts to contract? It is annoying and my wife is haviing trouble sleeping becasue of it.

Thanks,
Scott

Wink

You have it right thats just what it is. You would have to look around there in the attic where it is. Most of the time they use a flex pipe that has insulation over it . So this cant be it. Pull a register off and look around in there if its metal should have insulation in it also.
