Dryer venting solutions
Mom_4_bigdog on Apr 01, 2005We are remodeling an older house that was not built to have a washer/dryer. The previous owers added them to the Kitchen which takes up valuable cabnet space and looks really bad. The onlt other place we can see to put them is the hall closet, however, this area is not against an outside wall. Can we vent the dryer though the roof? What about those ventless dryers they use in Europe?

Cold-air return: both high and low on wall?
Hello all, I recently moved into a new-to-me house, and it has duplicate cold air returns in the bedrooms. There are returns both near the floor and near the ceiling. The ones near the floor have damped grills. I presume that there is a purpose for this, but I haven't figured the logic out yet. I can come up with reasons why it would be better to have the bottoms open or closed.... Any insight on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks!
