Question Locating duct dampers

What is the best way to locate the dampers in the duct? I have a 20+ year old two story house (third floor attic) with two separate heating/air systems, downstairs and upstairs, located in the attic. My downstair unit has dampers that have levers and tags that can easily be located near the unit. The upstairs unit doesn't seem to have the levers and tags and all the duct are covered with insulation in the attic. How can I find out if there are dampers in the duct without ripping off the insulation? Memphis, TN

Dampers

If there are no handles sticking thru the insulation, chances are there no dampers. To check you can gently squeeze the insulation on each branch close to the trunk. Damper handles are usually either on the side or top of the branch duct.
