Cold air returns near ceiling or floor?

I have a newer two story house and on the upper level they put the cold air returns near the floor (in the wall). I was wondering if I move those returns up the wall, closer to the ceiling will it help cool the upstairs a little better?...

thanks
Doug

Return location

It might help some but I doubt you will see a big difference. Before cutting walls, measure the temperature 6-12" off the floor & the same distance from the ceiling. If they are only a few degrees apart, don't waste your time & money putting in high returns.
